The 1926 brick building that houses Hotel Ändra has an interesting history: Originally built as efficiency apartments, it served as a transfer station for the Women’s Army Corp from 1945 to 1947. Full review →

Scandanavian inspired furnture (though not the IKEA kind) fill the rooms of this luxury boutique.

The Ändra is like a smaller, gentler version of the W: It has similar modern... aesthetics, but is a little brighter, a little more personal, and a little less expensive.

The hotel is also smack in the middle of restaurateur Tom Douglas's many haunts (including on-site Lola, a delicious Mediterranean spot)—be sure to hit Serious Pie's happy hour for cheap gourmet pizza or Dahlia Lounge across the street for crab cakes and coconut cream pie.

Frommer's 34

This hotel melds a vintage building with bold, contemporary styling and manages to succeed even better than the local W hotel. Full review →

Star Service Tick 4

A more subdued version of Hotel Max, this operation has a subtler residential tone that will impress midrange business and leisure travelers. Independently owned, this is a wonderful one-off operation Full review →

Travel + Leisure

Unveiled in 2006, this Belltown boutique hotel is housed in the extensively renovated site of a circa-1940’s Women’s Army Corps transfer station. Full review →
