Built when Times Square was a place to avoid, this 50-story convention mill has John Portman hallmarks, including the trademark atrium—at 37 stories, one of the world's largest—designed back in the day when hotel guests didn't really want to go out on the crime-ridden street (prior to the Disneyfication of Times Square).
