Having been running since 1937, it has been instrumental in developing the specific Icelandic version of the American hot dog, which is made from a mix of organic Icelandic lamb with addedß pork and beef, and adds toppings and condiments like ketchup, sweet mustard, fried (and raw, if requested) onions and a special remoulade made from mayonnaise, capers and herbs.

"The menu at Apotek is much the same as those at other upscale spots in Reykjavík—tons of fish, some sort of take on a tasting menu of traditional dishes (often with whale and puffin), and a few turf additions here and there—but the care and attention to detail is obvious here" Full review
